The Sharaku series are mostly male subjects of 18th century Kabuki actors and popular folk tales. They come in pairs, but may be obtained as individual prints. Detailed descriptions of the prints, meaning and gestures of the subjects are given by esteemed print reviewer Eiji Yoshida.

The Ukiyoe (Floating World) prints depicting female beauty are by a variety of 19th century artists, including Utagawa Kuniyoshi and Kitagawa Utamaro. Detailed descriptions of these prints are by members of the Ukiyoe Preservation Society.

* The world-renowned Adachi Research Institute, was founded in 1926 to reproduce period prints. These are the finest quality reproductions created by dedicated and skilled artisans, of whom only a few now remain in Japan. Since most of the original woodblocks were lost in the fires of World War II, Adachi artisans closely studied originals in France and the United Kingdom. The Adachi has been commissioned by museums around the world, such as the Chicago Art Institute, to do reproductions of the originals in their possession. The reviewers are connected with the Tokyo National Museum of Art.
